NEW DELHI: Police have received information that a gang has been luring job aspirants promising them lucrative jobs in Qatar. The economic offences wing of Delhi Police has initiated a probe after receiving a complaint from Bureau of Security, a wing of the external affairs ministry, police said on Thursday.
Police said the gang had been sending emails to people who were looking for jobs in Middle Eastern sending mails was quatariembassy@gmail.com.

"They are offering a variety of jobs-technical, clerical as well as unskilled and promising lucrative remuneraticountries. Investigators suspect the racketeers had collected email IDs of job aspirants from portals advertising jobs abroad. The ID used foron," said an investigator. Whenever a job aspirant
responded to the mails, the fraudsters asked for money on pretext of visa charges, caution money and processing fees, said sources.
The fraud came to light a few days ago after some job aspirants who responded to the mail made queries at the embassy. Sources said a complaint was lodged with Delhi Police through Bureau of Security. After an initial probe, EoW registered an FIR under Section 420 of Indian Penal Code and Section 66A of Information Technology Act three days ago.
The case is similar to the Maruti Suzuki job racket which was busted by Delhi Police. Two Nigerians were arrested. "We are trying to reach the original source of the emails," an officer said.
